New {Painting In Motion} video: Transform
My Creative Hollow (ie my home art studio) is far from being really done, but it's okay. I even have decided that the non-finished painted walls are kinda great like they are (the top edges are not painted), it gives a sense of «in progress» I like, actually.
But I really was needing to get back to painting and art journaling, after a 3-week break. My husband and my mom made me noticed that it was beginning to really affect my mood.
I wanted to do a new {Painting in Motion} video for ages and to record the first painting created in this new beginning that is our life here.

I finally pointed out also what was causing the creative hole I was in: I want to paint on big surfaces and feel constricted on my usual sizes (8x10" and such). But I want to use the surfaces I already have so it won't lay around here for ever.
I will also probably listen to my husband's advice and use the old canvases used but that I don't like and re-do them. What's on it will serve as a start for texture and color, and we'll see what'll happen from there. Promise to be interesting !
I am currently in the amazing Mindy Lacefield online class (finishing this week
BUT she will soon be offering an «at your own pace» version of it, for those of you who wanted to wait a bit etc) called «Paint your story».
I really don't regret spending my money on this. She is a fabulous teacher and the community gathered in her class is just fantastic. What she teaches us in the class is centered around play, finding again how to let our 7yo self out while painting and creating.
You know how building meaningful artwork is dear to my heart, and this is really the class I needed for that. To get the permission to use bold colors and symbols even if only I understand them. And that the story I tell in my painting does not have to be unfold, everyone can see in it what s-he wanna/needs (to) see.
I struggled A LOT with her face. Now, I know why but on the moment I was just very frustrated. This is in moments like this that I am happy I learned not to be too attached to a painting until I feel like it's finished, so I can build over and cover up when needed.
I love filming when I paint because often, I forget my process, and I then can use my videos as a library of past processes. AND sharing it with people give me plenty of fresh eyes, allowing me to see stuff I did not.
I wish I'd know more about the editing process though, but it will come.
I wanted to do a voice over comment, and started. But when I listened to the first segments, the noise from outside were too present, added to my cold it was just not good enough. So sorry, not this time again.
Here it is (be warned, despite me speeding up, it is quite a long one):
It's not easy to find all the material I've used but here is what I was able to find, hoping that helps:

New {Painting In Motion} video, Fierce
Hello !
I know it has been quite a long time since I shared with you an In Motion video (either Art Journaling or Mixed Media related). I have faced many technical difficultied in the last month or so, and several videos had to be aborted during the process. I meant they were just not meant to be.
I am a tidbit nervous to share this painting with you. Because it is like nothing else I've created before, but I still feel like this is me. I have no idea what this creature is. Nor why I used these specific symbols at the end.
I had a lot of fun playing with texture and love the result. Ready ? Here it is..:

You may know how much I love using stencils, and to date my favorites are made by the company The Crafter's Workshop, and I just swoon over those designed by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer (totally fangirling her, yea...). And I have the chance to have discovered a fantastic local scrapbook store that accept to special order stuff for me, the nonscrapbookerbutveryloyal customer
I think that I became more Fearless in my creativity thanks to Connie, and I will never thank enough for her class BIG that changed everything for me. Before, my creative process involved the search of perfection, intensive planning of what would the artwork will look like (and of course, this bad feeling when it never did look like what I had in mind). But since her class, I found how to free myself from all those high expectations I use to have. Not that I don't care, I still do, but I am enjoying the ride, involving all the ups and downs of creativity.
I feel like I was in a kind of transe while doing this painting, even if it was recording, because the creature that emerge stroke me only when the painting was done, the camcorder off. What IS that ?!?
And of course, an army of Gremlins decided to show off: «you are crazy» «this thing does not look like anything» «people will think you are not normal» blablablablaaaaaaaaaaa
I got scared to share this painting, and her video. But decided to shake the Fear off and do it anyway. So here it is:
I hope you enjoyed it
Take a look with me at my 4th Art Journal {New Video}
I am so happy to be starting a new Art Journal very soon.
I finished my journal #4 yesterday... it was a fabric journal I created, a prototype to define what I like to do in order to then make more for my Etsy shop. I love the pillowy cover and its softness.
It contrasts quite a bit with the toughness of what is happening inside.
This journal is really like a visual diary of what happened in my life. My way of getting things out, working on them. My therapy. And also a space to experiment. I discovered I love working with spray inks. And stencils. And acrylic paint.
Now, take a look:
The song is by an Israeli living in France and speaking English fluently singer I really love, Yael Naim. I wanted to use another of her song but it was 40 seconds too short (in a short 5mn video, 40 secs are like forever
).
This song, titles "too long" is what inspired a page in my first ever Art Journal, so I am attached to it quite a bit
«Your Soul Song», new Mixed Media video
Hello !
I am sorry for not posting a Gratitude Friday today. I got out of bed less than 30mn ago, I was forced to stay there until the strong headache and nausea that stroke me went away.
This blogpost will be shorter than usual, but if you have any question, don't be shy and leave me a comment I'll answer with pleasure (here or on the YouTube video itself).
Last Wednesday, I just wanted to record a painting from start to finish. Not knowing what. It is a simple mixed media artwork on a 8"x10" canvas board. I used my favourite media:
- acrylic paint
- PanPastels with embossing ink
- Color Shots
I think I finally pinpointed what was missing in my faces and how to give them more depth and character. Do you perceive any difference ? I do.
Here is the video (with a special guest appearance):
- First of all, I applied acrylic paint with my brayer. A quick and easy way to get the color on with great texture.
- I found it was to bright so I added white with my hand *blissful*. I allowed me not to have a color that was too flat.
- I first perceived the hair on the left, this is where I started sketching with my graphite pencil, then the rest of the face appeared easily from itself. I realized I just need to see a face feature and then go from there. I go over with a watersoluble graphite (my charcoal pencil seems to be dead).
- I painted the face with acrylic paint and the watersoluble graphite (blessed be the person who invented this !).
- Then, I stamped a rubber stamp with clear embossing ink in the hair area. This is only when you go over it with the PanPastels that you can see it. As my Grenouille said: «WOOOOOW this is magical !»
- The cloth is colored thanks to Lindy Stamp Gang's color shot. It is a pigment bomb loaded with beautiful shimmer. I thought it was too pronounced so I put a tissue paper on top of it while still very wet, and it created a beautiful texture (look closer to your tissue paper, it is not flat at all).
- The background looked too present for me, so I went over with Zinc White fluid acrylic. I love this color as it is not opaque as Titanium White is.
- I did the eyes and then finished the painting by writing my thoughts with my nib pen and ink (old school way). It says «Being creative is not about making pretty things but more about listening to the Song of your Soul.»
This is also my participation to day #6 of Traci's «Get your art ON» challenge
This artwork is for sale, email me if you are interested (there is the contact info in the right column =====>)
Be a peeping tom and come look in my Journal [VIDEO]
Another journal is now closed as this third journal is completely filled up But I already have the fourth one ready to receive my thoughts.
I so love browsing the old journals when finished, see the evolution, bringing back the memories (good and less good). Being the only one knowing what is behind what we can see in these pages.
Here is the video for you to enjoy (I hope):
If you want me to talk about a specific page, don't be shy and just ask
