In the past few years, creating specific items for you to purchase for Christmas has been on my mind, but I never got my mind around it. This year felt different, so I am in full prototype-making mode, brainstorming what makes me happy to create (ie. “what would I purchase from an artist myself ?“).

I also hinted about it, but I am working on a side personal project, currently titled #30SomethingSpecial and you can see I try to make my life easier by doing weird things, like taping 6 canvases together :p

I also got to play with the newest Silk Glaze set from ColourArte, and let me tell you: I am in love with these. You can watch my video project using all of them, a papier mâché moon 😉

I love creating these videos for you, and stretching what I think is my comfort zone…

You may not know my love for journals. All of them. I am not amazing at bookbinding but I am good when I set my mind into it. You can see the prototype I created for hand-painted fabric journals (the closure is different). SO.MUCH.FUN. I am waiting for some more paper to bind two more. And if you are interested, I can make a comission journal just for you, with your prefered colors and patterns. Contact me if you’d like more info about this. I sent one to South Africa last week and I can’t wait for its new owner to discover it.

I love when Melissa comes for an art playdate. Our styles are very different (she does mostly watercolory mixed media). Being a work-at-home artist can get lonely, you might know that. And she does not mind my quirks, so bonus points 😉

Last time, she created a video while here (with a special appearence from the new member of the Petitbois family).

This is what I was creating that day Melissa came over: the covers for the journals I mentionned above. Not one is the same, but they all make sense in my style and who I am. So so lovely. AND they have a flap (I love flap).

It allowed me to notice something essential: I need to create what I would use and buy myself. And these journals totally fit this.

I also wanted to share with you a little behind the scene. When you order something from me (whatever it is, really), I will spend some time charging it with both crystals and Reiki, and also smudge the item before carefully packing it. Love is implied in every step of the way, from the moment I pick up the surface, to the moment I deposit it to the post office.

Sometimes, images are easier to convey what’s happening than words. This is why I love this blogpost series (that comes when it pleases me, to be honnest) called Crumbs from my Teal Studio.

I recently bought the entire line of Radiant Rain misters, by ColourArte (they still are on sale because they are being discontinued. Once they are gone, they are gone). I am crazy like this, and do not joke when I tell you I am a passionate person (not on the scary side though. Or well… I hope so). I love that ColourArte’s amazing shimmery colors are available in almost all their lines of products. They are so yummy and there is so much to choose from ! So I decided to take my big Mixed Media paper pad and do some color testing (that I can later on use as a reference if I want to, or tear it up for collage).

I turned 30 last September and wanted to creatively celebrate it. And so began my #30SomethingSpecial projet. 30 persons, 30 abstract paintings. I decided to work by group of 6.

They all will be 5×7″ canvas board so it is not too crazy to tackle, and will be easy to mail.

Can not wait to see where this will lead…

I love journals. Finding a beautiful AND lined one is not that easy, surprisingly. So when I saw this one at Urban Outfitters, I knew it had to come home with me.

I have plenty of ongoing journals. I guess this is where the Virgo in me chimes in: each has a different theme, a different purpose. This one is for my free flowing writing. No goal but to let the words on the page. Not to be read again in retrospect, just to let the messages come and let them go.

What has been happening in your world ?

Hello ! Happy Saturday. It is early on this morning and might be the first time I record and publish that fast, mwahaha ! I skipped yesterday but I am not beating myself up for it, at all.

Today I am sharing a bit about what I started to work on. I am curious: what do you do when you are stuck in a painting, not knowing what the next step should be ? This is happening with my Fire Nixie. Something is clearly missing; however, I have not identified what yet… So I sit with her, I keep her on my Studio table so I see her and it will come. I have learned not to push.

And I started a bigger painting, just for fun. It will be in our stairs between the street level (where there is the garage, my Studio and the guest bedroom) and the main floor.

So yay. I woke up this morning decided that *I* get to choose my thoughts and my life, and that even if it does not always depend on me, I can at least try to make the most of it. Every single day…

DISCLAIMER: this is a longer vlog so take a drink, sit tight and hopefully you’ll enjoy me walking you through my Teal Studio (home studio). Another disclaimer… I absolutely did NOT clean or tidy before recording mwahahah.

A few facts ;):

• My Studio is located at street level (we don’t have a basement but it is still a 3-level townhome, lots of stairs), I unfortunately use the guest bathroom (and even if I clean the sink etc, it is not Mr Clean clean…) but I’m thankful to have one nearby.
• It is my first Studio, I used to just have our dining table as an art table and it was a pain. But there again, better than nothing at all.
• The unfinished look of the painted walls is on purpose, and I even have my handprints on the small part near the door that goes outside. A reminder to myself that everything is a work in progress.
• I have way too much stuff. I am an artsupplyhoarder in recovery and I use to subscribe to several different monthly kits… and it came way faster than I could use it for. I feel trapped and need to get rid of most of it (I still love art supply but know what I use and what I won’t).
• I love having Studio buddies. The space is not huge but can hold two or three persons no problemo.
• I do my best to clean after me on my table before leaving the space for the day because if it is filled with too much stuff I know I will walk away (all about the excuses, right ?). And it feels better to arrive in a somewhat welcoming space, anyway !

Do you have a personal space in your home that you have dedicated to your creativity ? I’d love to know (and why not, see !).

Recently, I have been going to the Studio in the wee hours in the morning. While the tribe is still asleep but when I just toss and turn between the bed sheets. 
Usually, I kind of put the urge to go in there aside for different reasons (our bedroom is on the top floor of our home, the Studio is on the level floor, two stories below; afraid to wake everyone up etc. etc.). But during that Thanksgiving long weekend, waking up at the usual hour when there was no actual need to get up in a hurry.. I did listen to that Inner Voice telling me «it’s your time, go in the Studio and take this as a blessing». So I went, three days in a row, about 7:15am. Sometimes with one girl joining along, sometimes perfectly alone. It felt SO good…
