I love a good challenge in my creative life.

A few years ago, I went BIG (thanks to Connie Hozvicka). I learned and dared to paint on big surfaces. And I still love it. I usually paint on 8×10″ (± 20x25cm), which is a size I find perfect.

Bus as I said, I love challenges. So I decided to finally get the ATC papers I bought a long time ago (1 year ? yeah at least that long ago…) without touching it because well. It is small. 2.5×3.5″ to be precise.

I don’t know if they will be ATCs (so if I will trade them for another artist’s ATC) or if they will be listed in the shop as ACEOs (how do you pronounce that ??).

I am just in the early stages: building a background so they are not white anymore. And not that intimidating.

I decided to do all 10 I got at the same time.

I picked 4 craft paints (a light blue, a vanilla, a mustard yellow and a green) and got finger painting. Then I sprayed two or three colors of Lindy Stamp Gang’s Flat fabio and ran randomly some of the papers in it. Love the effect !

Now… finding what’s next ! 😉

I also started a new 11×14 painting to try something new. We’ll see how it goes…

Wanted to sketch some new ideas while they were hanging around in my head. With the fibro fo always on the edge of hitting me, usually without real notice, I need to be careful. I forget things way more easily than before and it can get very frustrating at times (you know, when you’re going in a room to do something very specific but once you’re there you have no idea why you came for the first place ? or when you know you know that precise word, but it never comes back in your mind ? yep…).

So now, I just know it so I do what needs to be done on the moment I think of it. Or it may be lost. Forever.

It is weird how the mind and the brain work. This is something that has always intrigued me deeply. I sometimes wish I was more scientific and would have done something in the professional domain, research wise (you know if you’ve read my blog for a certain time than until I was around 20 I really wanted to be a psychanalyst).

Whatever… here are two sketches (made more than quickly, to be honest) done today:

I have almost finished the painting I started yesterday for my new {Painting In Motion} video.

The frustration is gone, which is always a good feeling when you know you’ve been able to go through it and navigate to a better place.

However, there is something… wrong ? missing ? I don’t know yet, I guess I will ask around in some of the Facebook groups I belong to, to have constructive criticism (I know what I’d like to do but I don’t know how to do so with ruining everything that had been done already).

Well, the message is well received and as usual, right on the target.

I finally started to record a new {Painting In Motion} video. It’s been approximately two months since the last one…

A while back, my husband did a few changes around the home so I could have the big table that was our dining table at the time. It’s a big wooden one.
The issue is that it is quite «deep» (I have a large space between where I stand and the end of the table right in front of me) so to have my tripod with the camera is harder than it was with the previous table (where I could just stretch my arm to get to the recording button). And of course, finding a camera with a remote that control the recording is haaaaaaaaaaaaard and expensive, I just have to go around to press it now. Good for my workout I guess ! ahah

And I don’t know why it’s almost when I decide to record my full process that the painting is giving me great struggles. I was loving the background but the Sprixie that appeared ? hmm you’ll see 🙂 The painting is not done yet, I’m heading into my Creative Hollow to finish it right after I hit «publish» here.

Today will be a quicky but I really really want to share with you a little sketch I did.

As I told recently on my Facebook page, we (my Husband and I) attended an information session for the Fort Langley Fine Art School, which is a public school going from Grades 1 to 12, focused on «infusing art in everything». They have four major areas: visual arts, music, dance and drama. The first years, kids learn a bit of everything before choosing a major in Grade 8.

Both our girls would love to attend an art school and this one would fit almost perfectly.

The Vice President told something that is still in the back of my mind, about going into the hardest and less comfortable areas the kids are in, and pushing them to go further inside of it. (i dont recall the exact words he said, sorry). And I took it as my Oracle for the day.

Koala is drawing all the time (when she is not dancing !). It’s not just a rethoric way of saying it. She draws more than me. Always with a pen in the hand, drawing on everything she finds on her way (I do bind her journals and gift her with some fatter ones as well, though).

I want to practice my more realistic faces, just to know I am capable of doing it. Shading is my weakness. Even if I do understand the theory, it usually goes wrong when it comes to doing it.
So I was doing this face in one of my sketchbooks when Koala came and ask if she could draw her hair. Then of course she wanted to add the crown. And some eyelashes. And a body…
