I told you that my neighbor came over everyday this week to paint along me in my Studio (we are direct neighbors in our townhomes row, so it is very easy to come ahah).

I shared with her my techniques and insights about my creative process.

This owl is what came out from my demos to her. He is made with A  LOT of layers. a lot.

We laughed at how «male-ish» he is looking. Knowing that I only do girls, it was quite a surprise ! But this painting is definately a «HE» and not a «SHE».

He is made on a 6×8″ (15x20cm) cradled wood panel. The edges are still raw.
Here are a few of the materials I’ve used for this painting:

• Scrapbooking papers
• Acrylic paints
• Stamps
• Alcohol inks
• Spray inks (by Lindy Stamp Gang)
• Stencils (by The Crafter’s Workshop)
• Different kinds of gel mediums, both matt and glossy. But all heavy or extra heavy

As each and every of my paintings, he has a message for you:

What are you born to be ? What is your Life Mission ? 
Sometimes, you do not really need to know the answers to these questions to give the best of yourself in every situation, you do not need a precise response. Just have faith that whatever it is, you DO have a purpose, a reason you are here. 

Remember that in moments of doubt and fear.

This is really about accepting that even when we don’t have the answers to our question and introspection, it is okay. That everything is taken care of. However, we have to play our part in the «big picture» of it all…

Hello again !

I am so happy to announce I have some new paintings available for you to purchase. For now, one Sprixie and one Nixie.

They were both created on 5×7″ birch wood panel.
I really really enjoy working on a wood surface. Because it is hard. And If I want, I can let it more or less show through.

This Sprixie is really all about leaving what you don’t need anymore behind in order to make room for what is to come next.

He is looking right ahead, to what the future holds, refusing to stay the prisonner of the past, of the emotions and thoughts that he does not need anymore. He works hard to get rid of the hurt, to mend the wounds.
He is tired, and his heart is heavy with all those conflicted feelings. The will to change for better, and the «not knowing how to make that change a reality». The fear of not being able to find his way to his beautiful self.

But overall, he knows that all the struggles happen for his growth and that yes, everything is gonna be okay. everything is okay.

Charlie is quirky and different. She even has a (teeny tiny) mouth. And small wings that trick people, because they think these wings are useless and embarassing.
She is so strong and brave, you would not know that by just looking at her. There is way more under the surface than what the eyes can see, just as much as the background composing the painting, made with layers and layers of different media (the papers, art tissue, paint, stamping, scribbling, scratching and more than I can actually remember afterwards).

Prints will soon be available in the shop as well (next week) and I am now able to offer several sizes of the same print, so if you would like bigger than 8×10, this will be made on order but available at the same time than my usual size.

I am revisiting Inner Worlds (my Etsy shop), taking new pictures for the prints listings, and adding new prints that I was sure to have shared in the past. I LOVE my teal wall in my studio, it makes pretty photos.

OwlCtopus

This is a new Sprixie (my Sprixies serie is about all these creatures that come into my mind, that do not exist in our World), called OwlCtopus. The Owl and the Octopus are two of my Totem Animals, they have similarities in what they both teach me.
This Sprixie is about seeing what is beyond the first impression. She is also teaching me that blending with our surrounding is at the same time a blessing and a curse. There is A LOT behind what you can see in this painting. And I really love how I can have a look and always see something new (even if I am the one who created this lol).

Cherell

«Cherell» was created months ago (at the beginning of the year).

She is all about embodying Love. Embracing the fact that WE have the power to spread Love all around us and make it a better place to be.

I’ve already talked to you about «Sometimes» (if you missed it, it was on this blogpost).

Ok, I just came up with that name while looking for a title. It may not stick but it made me smile so I may keep it anyway !

I decided I needed something to be pushed forward in my creativity. Something that would also serve as a practice for me, to get better. But mostly, I need to find the groove and flow again.

I started brainstorming. Having a deadline is a total juju killer for me, because of the stress it implies when I realize I am not going to meet that deadline on time.

I love making art journals. So I decided to center it around that. My goal is to create 15 Art Journals, with at least 2 that are bound with techniques I have never tried before.

To help me achieve that, I will watch YouTube videos of course (being visual, seeing someone actually doing the binding in front of my eyes is a huge help for my understanding of the whole process) and browse the 3-4 books I have on the subject (if you wanna know which books they are, simply ask me and I will happily share more infos about them in a seperate blogpost).

Of course, I want to keep track of my progress and will document along the way here on the blog.

Eventually, the journals will go on sale in my Etsy Shoppe, Inner Worlds (I may keep a few just for me, however :D).

Hello !

A new video is here, yaaaaaay 😀 You know how I love recording them, the editing process and then sharing with the world. I am still trying to figure out how to use the video option on my Nikon D5100 and had some bad surprises noticing it stopped recording or did not focus well sometimes. So bear with me 😉 I’ll get it eventually, right ? I even recorded a voice-over explaining what I was doing. I find it easier to record and comment once the painting is done, instead of speaking while working. It would be too distracting for me. And I tend to sing along the music that is bursting in the studio while I create; trust me you don’t want to hear that, no no no.

This time, I decided to go back to painting on stretched canvas, a deep edge one (because I love playing with the edges at the end).
I just try to come back. Come back to what I love doing. Come back to sharing my Story, my way. Come back to listening to my Inner Voices, the good loving inspiring one, and shutting the nasty ones up.

I intentionally let the wording vague. Because this painting means something to me that you may not see, and what it brings to you when you look at it is probably different. However, I did write a little something…:

Sometimes…
… I wanna disappear,
I want it all to be clear.
Sometimes…
…I look at the sky,
Just wishing I would know why.
Sometimes…

Can you see how much I love using the stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop ? I really like that some of them are as good used with a spray than used as a «stamp» (you’ll see what I am talking about in the vid). This doily one, designed by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is one of my favorite, I think I will have to get my hands on her more tribal one too.

If you’d like a more detailed list of the supplies I used, please just ask and I will do something about that 🙂
