My current Art Journal has only three spreads left ! It may seem stupid but knowing this makes me happy. Because ending this one also means I am about to start another. Speaking of this, I have to decide which of the blank art journal will be the lucky one (i may ask you to help me soon).

I really adore my current Art journal, that was the first one like this that I bound myself, following  Teesha Moore’s instructions found on her website ages ago. This journal reflects very well what’s been going on in me as a woman and as an artist. I can’t wait to share it with you 🙂

I notice that these two have more in common than I thought (just realized that their eyes are purple). The one on the left has my thoughts in her about how to discover who i am; the one on the right has part of the chorus from Adele’s “Turning Tables” lyrics that speak a lot to me.

These last two are still in progress, a bit of final touches to add here and there.

I know I am repeating myself but I really really love the products created by the brand Lindy Stamp Gang. The associations of colour + shimmers they create are just fantastic. The pigments are gorgeous. And Tracey is a very nice lady (which can be important). I am a fan.

Hello !

Here in Vancouver it is VERY cold (like -8°C) But the sky is a gorgeous blue. It is hard to believe we are Friday again… How was your week ?

This week, I am grateful because..:

• The new computer my Husband and his colleagues built for me (they do not need a lot to be pleased). So OK this is not a powerful fancy expensive Mac computer but it suits my need very well. Ands editing videos is way easier now.
• I went back to my Art Journal and made a few spreads. He is almost complete now. I can’t wait to start a new one. And in a few I will have plenty to see and will be able to realize how things evolved since this day of July 2008 when it all began for me.
• My new art journal video. It is totally imperfect but I like it a lot anyway. It was a quick and easy page to create and I learned along the way.
• My mom stays strong in quitting smoking.
• I am still losing weight. I will lose every single pound that I don’t need on my body. I have Marianne Williamson’s book and will give one copy away very soon so stay around.
• I started my bigger to date canvas (30″x30″). And a stranger complimented me about it yesterday !
• My first customer received the journal she ordered me and wrote me a very positive feedback.
• We tried Brussels Sprouts again, with a recipe I saw on Giada Di Laurentiis’ tv show. It was delicious !
• I am having a LOT of fun trying binding techniques. I finished my first coptic journal (will talk about it later). And I found THE perfect book to learn from.

Wow this week’s list was pretty long !

Hello !

It happens to me sometimes… I just wanna play in my art journal (this one is almost finished !) and see what will come out.

For once, I didn’t start the page with an idea or even an intention. I didn’t want something complicated, nor to draw. Yes, I also forget about my girly sometimes.

This page was really quick to create (like 20mn). I simply began with colours that were appealing to me and then I just followed the flow of what I was seeing.

This is for me a good example to remind me that I don’t necessarily have to spend 1hours to do a page I like and that the unknown can be as fun !

I really enjoy using the sprays and stains made by the brand Lindy Stamp gang. The pigments and shimmers are just gorgeous !

The camera angle is weird and I apologize for this. I try to figure out the best way to record so you can see better and to be still at-ease. I am experimenting and planning to do more and more videos.

I used to be all Black. No White, no Grey, no Colours. Just Black. It was easier to hide, to fit in that way.
And then I flipped.

For some times, I colored my world with plenty of flashy colours. So was my art. So it is still today. It is like I put on canvas and paper what I would like my Universe to look like.
I thought I’ve found myself. But I realized this week that I didn’t. Because all these bright colours are not me more than pure Black alone.

Where am I going ?

Who Am I, deep down the bones ?

I am still exploring. And this is why I love my art journal so much, it is the best tool for me to dig, to find, to discover. Because it is something that really matters to me. Even if I know it is the work of an entire life, I am only 25 and life is still ahead of me (knocking on wood).

I currently need softness. More simplicity. And I got this by doing a page in my art journal. Obviously.

On Valentine’s day was the first edition of Connie‘s Art Journal Love Day.

This is a HUGE party celebrating our love for our Art Journal.

I have been art journaling for 2 years 1/2 now. Only. Like it’s been forever, like a part of me I cant get rid of.

My art journal and I are in love, he forgives me the long time no see and greets me with open arms everytime I come back to him, with a smile and a ” I missed you dear !”.

I really really like how it turned how. I love using india ink and my nib pen; it reminds me the long pages I used to write with one when I was a kid (and my hand full of ink that wouldn’t go away).
This is a continuation of what I was talking about in my last blogpost, that it finally all begins with self-love.

I tried to do a brown-skin girl, and the result is not good. There is copic markers (that do not like my journal paper at all as blending was just impossible to achieve), fluid acrylic and panpastels just for the face :s. Next time, I will try with my NeoColors II, may be easier.
I like her anyway !

It is a huge breakthrough for me… it all begins with self-love.
