I know that some of you, like I do, enjoy collecting art postcards. So I decided to add some Nixies postcards in Inner Worlds.

I don’t exactly pinpoint why, but listing them in the shop simply made me happy.

My mom and I created beautiful envelopes to accompany them, cuting and glueing, I could have done it with my kids too (or is it considered as child slavery ? lol).

I decided to be a bit… different. I made sets of 5 cards, randomly, and you won’t know which Nixies are in your pack until you receive them.
The good things is there was plenty of different Nixies and no set is like the others. It may be the Christmas Spirit settling in that makes me a bit more childish than usual 😉

I have been thinking hard about this idea that blossomed a few weeks ago on an early morning car ride.
I asked a ofew of my close friends and family members and they all agree I should reaolly propose it.

I am announcing the Nixies’ subscriptions. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

What is it ? It is simple: you can sign up to receive a Nixie print (8×10″) at a determined lapse of time (there are three packs available for you to choose) during 12 months, 6 or 3 months.

Maybe it will be clearer if I explain to you the different packs:

Nixies’s Wonderland Pack

• 12 prints of my choice (once a month during a year)

Price: $199/year

Nixies Fan Pack

• 6 prints of my choice (one print every other month during a year)

Price: $ 99/year

Nixies Love Pack

• 3 prints of my choice (one print every four months)

Price: $49/year

And it includes the shipping, no matter where you are in the World. Sounds good, doesn’t it ?

I will choose randomly between the newest prints available, shipping them to you around the 15th of each month.

I think that Art is something we should surround ourselves with but that it can easily be very expensive. I see my subscriptions as an investment you could make for your well-being because my Nixies make you feel good inside, the little something that pleases you every month or so. I know it can seem like a lot of money because it is big numbers, but if you put them out a bit, I sell my prints $16 each + shipping, which makes each print at least $20; for the Wonderland pack it would cost $240 for 12 prints so it’s like you have 2 prints free in the pack. Does it make sense ?
And of course, we can arrange payments if you need for the Wonderland and the Fan packs.

↦ And because I think it would make a great gift, if you sign up for one subscription AND another one for a friend at the same time, hers/his will be 25% off (for a pack of the same value or less).

Amelia… I would never have thought to discover her on one of my canvas, nor sharing her life story. This is with a Nixie like her that I am happy to have decided to share their stories instead of keeping them all to myself.

She is one of these nice surprises that make me pick up paint and charcoal everytime I can to meet the Nixies that come to life from it, with a specific message to tell and then to be shared with the World.

Here is Amelia:

She was made on a 8×10″ canvas board.

I began by laying some colors I was drown to on the surface. Just playing around. Then I wanted to use the «Fragmented» Canvas by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer (Made by The Crafter’s Workshop. It is a stencil I love and it offers plenty of possibilities (I used it several times in my Art Journal since I got it). This time, I kept it simple and used it with pure acrylic paint. Simple can be good too.

At first, I had in mind to paint her hair with color but needed a white base to be sure it would be opaque and not too transparent (one of my previous recent painting was a disaster, partly because of this). But then I just fell in love with this white, letting us see the background through it just enough. And of course, I decided to leave it like this.

Her top is all glittery because a Nixie with a story like hers definately needs some glitters in her life.

Amelia has this je ne sais quoi of different from the others…

Amelia is a dreamer. You can see in her eyes that she is halfway here, halfway there. Where is «there» exactly ? She will never (ever) tell it to anybody; she escapes in her inner bubble where her World is finally perfect, where she surrounds herself with protection, softness and love. Where no one will hurt her again.

She spends most of her time alone because she is afraid of letting people in. Not that she actually likes being alone, but she is sure that it is better than being in pain because of others. She knows, deep inside of her, that she should not be afraid that much, but Fear overpowers her.

Imagination is all she has, this is her secret sanctuary. This is what saves her.

She often feels shattered, broken into a million pieces because of what happened in her past. She does her best to heal though. She knows she is stronger than what she thinks. And she indeed is.

She decided to help others to overcome their past, Amelia knows the power of sharing her experience so others who have similar backgrounds do not feel alone like she does…

I know I know… Alyss and some other paintings were created in September and I still need to present them to you. I am still writing their stories, trying to take good pictures when it is so gloomy outside some days. And well, life happens along the way.

I am very very happy to officially present you Alyss.

I was sketching in my journal after talking to my dear friend Alice Kara. I don’t know why the Universe decided that but as I was sketching the message «What I see may not be what you see, but it does not mean it is not real.» It made me grin very wild (see the laughing cow ? yes, like that).
My friend Alice is a medium. Her daily life is punctuated with ghosts coming in and out, some of them even coming back now and then. I guess the Universe simply wanted me to acknowledge her, and the fact that in our own way it can happen to each one of us.

Here is the finished painting:

It measures 11×14″ and is made on canvas board.

I just love her and the general feel of the painting.

Ginette was made with a white Sakura gel pen. This was totally in my color comfort zone, it is good to be back to it sometimes.

Alyss is blonde. So people assume she is stupid. It does not help that she often answers things they simply do not understand and that seem totally out of context. They would be surprised to discover that she is indeed very very smart, but just not the cleverness you are used to.

She loves wearing this tear-shaped glass thing in front of her eye because it helps her see the World differently.
Perspective is a topic she is passionate about. Thinking of how things would be if we just moved a bit, if we traded place with someone else… She has beloved journals where she writes carefully all she discovers; she even sketches a bit.

When you see ALyss talking to herself, she is not. She has this owl, Ginette, following her around night and day. But the thing no one knows is that this owl is actually a ghost, so no one can see her. Ginette chose Alyss because she felt they could connect together. Alyss loves Ginette very much, even though she won’t be against some time by herself, really alone. They are now a duo that is linked with this invisible thread that could not be destroyed.

I created her on canvas, she was my come back on a bigger scale (I have to measure her but I think she is like 16×20, not exactly sure though).

She is my best example that picking some colors you like, without anything in mind despite having fun and playing around, can get something you eventually really like. And that accident can create something fun and unexpected.
If you follow my artwork for a while, you would know I am not the type to use a lot of so bright colors on the same painting. But I could not help it 😉

The backgroung looked like this (see picture on the right, but you have to flip it on a 90degrees angle to see it as it ended up. I painted it this way and then flipped it when I saw her).
The red in the middle caught my eye immediately, I saw a hat. And then the face came along. And the body. Do you see it as well ?

I love using stencils. Especially the one made by The Crafter’s Workshop. This is what I used for her hat, simply with black archival ink. I love how it turned out. That we can see through but not too much.

The tattoo on her forhead is the happy accident I told you about… I was painting her make up with the amazing Color Shots by Lindy Stamp Gang, and I put the jar on the canvas while painting… when I lifted it up woooopsies ! there was this huge trace right there, that no one would miss. I so love the color, and I knew that it would be worse if I tried to wipe it off. So I decided to create a beautiful crescent like tattoo instead, and embellished it with puff paint. And to create another one as an echoe on the background.

July has rainbow in her heart and loves to wear heavy artistic make-up.

Others think she is a bit crazy and totally weird with all these bright colors she likes to surround herself with, and this make-up she puts around her eyes.Some even think she is hiding behind it, from something she does not want to talk about. But they are wrong: she just loves it, it is as simple as that.

July tends to do whatever she wants, not because a lack of structure but because she wants to enjoy every second of her life.
She is always respectful and will always be nice. Because she thinks that if you are nice and loving, then people will return it to you somehow, by being nice too. She would love to find a way to help others see life as she does, because she wants them to be as happy and free as she feels. Don’t think she is reckless or careless, it would be a misunderstanding.

She likes pushing her limits, to let the Universe know that she trusts and that she just knows, deep down, that it will be alright. No matter what.

«I Dare» is her mojo.
