I have been working more in my art journals again and I am very happy to share a new {Art Journaling In Motion} video with you today.
I am using my handmade easy journal, as it has a fun size and contains few pages. Do you know the pressure of completing an art journal? I do.

On this page, I wanted colours and texture. I wanted it to feel what Gratitude feels like to me. It might appear to be random, but nothing was.
For example, the crackles represent the fact that we often turn to Gratitude when Life falls apart. As a coping mechanism of some sorts; instead of it being a “normal” daily mindset.

If you were to paint your Gratitude, what would it look like?

I love playing in my art journal. It is no secret that it is my safe space. This is where I experiment. This is the place I go to when everything else feels too much, or not enough.

The fabulous Sarah Trumpp decided to dedicate 100 days to her stencil designs, creating one new every day for 100 days. She invited whoever wanted to join on their own challenge and called it #100daysofshenanigans (I invite you to follow the hashtag on Instagram to see what we are up to. It’s a very diverse group, so cool).

I wanted to go back to my art journal. I tend to avoid it when my feelings are not in a good place; afraid of what would come up out of me to the page… Stupid, isn’t it?

Hey guys ! Welcome in this second video about creating your own art journal. In this one, I share with you how I decorated my canvas cover, both the outside and the inside.

I love the Strumpet Stencils for their diversity and quirkiness. They fit me perfectly 😉

I love painting with my fingers, it gives me more control when blending my colors together. I kept my use of the stencils pretty easy because I wanted a simple cover.

I only have two signatures in this journal, and you can watch me create those pages on the first video. You can see my sewing is totally wonky: it is what happens when your hands give up on you. But I decided it was giving my journal some more personality 😉

This new video is a bit different because it was a collaboration between a poet and art journaler from Pakistan, Tehreem Fazal, and I.

I worked in my handmade 1-sheet art journal again (I love how less intimidating it is, and how quick it will be to fill). I did an abstract-ish mountain painting on one side: I did not aim for accuracy but for “this is how I feel“.

I want to focus more on feeling than doing.

Maybe because I am getting older and want to create the life I know I want to live. I told you in a previous vlog that this year is focused less on selling stuff. Even though I feel that at 32 going on 33 years old, I NEED to be earning some real money.

This is why this spread in my art journal was not about being filled with realistic images and a lot of details. I painted with my fingers because it makes me happy; it brings me home.

Hey Love Beans ! This week, I wanted to share with you my process to create a colorful cover for the first Art Journal I’ll be using in 2018 (PS: as you’ll see in the video, I use a very easy handmade journal. I truly came back to my first loves: layers. finger painting. texture. colors. This year, I am creating to bring joy back into my life. Last year, I was in a deep creative drought.

After long periods of analysing what I was going through, trying to understand, some few points came up:

• I was putting too much pressure on myself to create to please, to create to sell.
• Also, I was passing time comparing my path with other artists’ paths. This is never a positive thing to do.
• I lost my personal creative voice.

My solution was to go back years ago, to the techniques that truly speaks to my Soul and make my Heart sing. This art journal cover embodies all of this.
