You know by now my love for amazing art supply. This year, I had the opportunity to find some new ones that completely won me over.

Why I love these

⭐️Ecoline liquid watercolours | They are very fluid and highly pigmented. The range of colours is pretty wide and I just adore their flow.

⭐️The Happy Planner notebook | More than the planners themselves, I like the ring system. I first came across this from my friend Caroline who uses the ARC system with her planner (that she buys from an amazing local company called Chaque Jour Compte). Being able to use a punch and create my own stuff to use with the rings is something I love about it. I bought huge rainbow ones to create my Grimoire with this system. It’s great for my art journal as well: I paint on single sheets, punch, add and voilà.

⭐️Stencils from Strumpet Stencils | Sarah is such a huge inspiration. I feel blessed to have been part of her stencil design team and just to be around her online makes my life brighter. Her stencils are her own designs, she does everything herself (whaaaaaa). Quirky, different, witchy, inspirational…. yup. My go-to is the “plus signs“.

⭐️Hydracolour handmade watercolour cakes | I discovered this Etsy shop via my darling SoulSister Mindy Lacefield. She shared about them on her Instagram and it was love at first sight. I don’t do watercolour per se; however, I integrate them into my mixed media artwork. It took me MONTHS to finally be able to order (thanks to my in-laws Christmas money) as these are not cheap. I have my eyes on Orion and could not get it in my order. They go fast once the shop is updated. They are shimmery and some are color-shifting. Completely handmade and magical.

⭐️Liquitex freestyle brush | Blending colours on my canvas is something that always makes me deeply happy. There is a beautiful satisfaction in it. Using this flat brush makes it way easier.

⭐️Pébéo acrylic markers | This is a big love right there. There are many colours to choose from and different tip sizes as well. These markers are permanent once dry, therefore perfect for my mixed media play. I love their “precious” colours, especially the gold and copper ones. They add such beautiful details in my paintings.

⭐️the Very Big Sketchbook | This is far from a perfect notebook However, it is big, chunky and cool. The pages need loving prep before being ready to welcome my abusive artwork. I usually only work on the right page, so it means I have about 300 pages to create. How exciting? You can watch my Art Journaling videos here.

⭐️Fabriano watercolour paper | I love me some smooth paper. Fabriano is my favourite brand of paper in general. This is usually the brand I use for my homemade art journals (I buy the 22″x30″ that I cut and fold).

Ecoline liquid watercolours

You might remember that a few months back, I shared with you my Current Obsessions video. In it, I share my discovery of the Ecoline watercolours.
In fact, these watercolours are highly pigmented. And I find that (for what I do) they also have a perfect consistency.
They recently changed the packaging: the Ecoline used to be sold in these square glass jars. Now, they are round and come with a dropper. You can also find them sold in sets or individually.

Rembrandt Soft Pastels

One of the things I loved about these is that they sent me the half-sticks pastels. Indeed, I find they are easier to handle and to use than the full-size ones.
As you can see in the video, you can use them for precision or to colour larger areas of your projects.
I love using soft pastels on my Nixies’ faces. They add that soft pop of colour I love.
They are also great for quick study sketches.
How do you use them?

I think this is not a secret: I adore art supplies and exploring my creativity around them.
I used to be a hoarder but I am recovering… However, sometimes there’s a promo at my art supplies store and I feel like I can’t pass it, ya know? I do my best not to buy every.single.color of a product I fall in love with.

I am happily bringing a new feature on the blog: Art Junkie Monday ! If you know me, and/or you ever came to my Home Studio (the former space was called the Teal Studio, my new one is the Art Cave), you are aware of the amount of art supplies I actually own *I did try to purge when we moved across the country a few months ago, but still…*

So I decided to share the love with you. And for this first one, I decided to go with my three favorite acrylic paints (as it is my primary medium when I paint).

I love acrylic paint because it can be mixed with gels and other grounds to create something totally different.

Here are my three go-to paints (I also use cheaper ones but not as often and with as much delight than I use those):

Matte Acrylics | DickBlicks

What I love about the Matte Acrylic paints by blick is how highly pigmented they are.

Plus, when I use them in my art journal, my pages tend to stick less together.

They come in a very big range of colors (usually, you will have “light”/”medium”/”dark” shade for almost each color, which I find is amazing so I have less thinking to do).

And not to be neglected: they are pretty cheap !

Soft Body Acrylics | Liquitex

Liquitex really is one of my favorite brands when it comes to art supplies. Why ? First, because I do mixed media, I love to… mix and match what I use. And Liquitex allows me to play around that by having different media covering their range of colors. I know it will meet my expectations and that they will perfectly work together.

I love their soft body line of paint because it applies very smoothly but I can still get nice textures from them. The pigmentation is great (both their softer colors and their deeper ones) so I don’t need a lot of it. I love using them on my Nixies’ face.

They have colors I do not find made by other brands, which is always a good selling point for me 😉

Fluid Acrylics | Golden

Golden is probably one of the best brand of paint for artists working in acrylic. Oh Golden Fluid Acrylics, how I love thy… (even though Cobalt Teal had to disappear and I am still not truly over it).

They are the choice I make when I want more flow but not a very liquid consistency (as the High Flow paints would offer, for example; these are more like an ink consistency. Golden says on its website it is “a viscosity similar to heavy cream“).

They are pretty expensive, but I have had some bottles (like the Cobalt Teal, that is not in production anymore) for what feels like ages. You need so little of it because of the color intensity.
