For this week’s {Painting in Motion} video, I wanted to try something new: use only one brand for the colors. Stretch the products and my creative muscles in the process. For this first one, I picked Lindy Stamp Gang (the only thing I did not use for this project, from their brand, is their embossing powders).

I am asking you: which brand would you like me to explore next ?

I really love the texture created by the first layer of tissue paper. All these wrinkles make me SO happy 😀

Lindy Stamp gang has both shimmery products and what they call flat ones, that have just the color. It opens the possibilities depending on what you need for your project.

This week, I decided to come back in my journal and put stamps as the heroes of my spread.

I love using Mindy’s girl stamp when I feel lazy and really appreciate the fact that is usually is a starting point for me to then «Nixie-fy» as I feel.

This Nixie seemed a little sad, I felt like she needed a companion she could lean on, to help her bear her heavy heart. I can’t tell you what kind of animal this Sprixie is, I let you decided.

Look at the amazing shimmer that the Magical Micas are bringing to her hair and face. I simple love it !

I love using embossing powders, fell in love with them all over again. And I just wish this constellation stamp was slightly bigger, but I enjoy it anyway !

Today I am sharing a new video tutorial over Lindy Stamp Gang.

I got inspired by Valentine’s day approaching and my commitment to show the people I love how I care about them. Because after all, I refuse to see this day as focused only on sentimental love.

Oh My ! Sometimes, I do surprise myself with the crazy ideas that cross my mind (I often think of this quote from Alice In Wonderland: «Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.»)

For this month’s challenge, I decided to put to good use all these CDs we are not listening to anymore and alter them to create a fun banner.

First step was to cover them all with white gesso. I created texture while applying it with my Catalyst tool because well… texture is my dope 😉 *better than Nutella, eh !*.

Once completely dry, I sprayed colors (check at the end of my post for the complete list of the products I used for this project). I did not want for any mean to have an even coat of color.

I mixed Midnight RendezVous Raven in its Magical Mica form with a little bit of water, and using a Q-Tip, I made dots near the center. Then, I ran it around each disc to create a border of some sort.

On the two teal discs, I applied hot pink glitter mixed with glossy soft gel medium through a stencil. simply love how both colors complement each other, it’s this additional touch that makes the difference.

I blended some water with Cowabunga Copper Magical Mica and wrote «WELCOME» (this banner is hanging above the door of our guest room).

And as a final touch, I splattered some Teeth Chattering Teal on all of them. You can’t barely see it, you have to be in a certain position and certain light, which adds to the interest (to me).

At last, I had my husband drill me some holes, added a string and voilà 🙂 (yes… i am quirky that way and the letters are not aligned).

Cards for Project Life

I am doing Project Life again this year and I’m trying a new process. What I love about it is that I can create my own cards to include and not use only the official ones.

I started with two 6×4″ Gelli Printed cardstock I made earlier (video to come next week). Then, I splattered with some Starburst Color Shots (Tibetan Poppy Teal, Ramblin’ Rose Pink and Sweet Violet Purple Teal). It adds this shimmery plus that makes all the difference.

Then I worked on the chipboard pieces from Imaginarium.

I embossed the Sisters piece with Midnight Sapphire (from the Mad Hatter set) and Cosmic Pink Blue (from the Sweet Treats set). The blue shimmer with the baby pink rose makes both color go perfectly together (in my opinion).

For the butterflies, I cut the border to have it the right size for my card. Then I thinly applied Super Heavy Gesso with a palette knife so it 1)adds a beautiful texture 2)make my color pops even more. Once dry, I sprayed with Yellow Rose Of Texas, Canna Lily Burnt Orange and Edelweiss Moss Green. It is the perfect trio to contrast with the blue of my card.

I glued both with transparent craft glue.

Sketchbook Cover

I started by applying a thin coat of Super Heavy Gesso on both the sketchbook cover itself, and the window chipboard.

Once dry, I sprayed Edelweiss Moss Green and Cheshire Cat Cherry on the cover, and Baby Blue Eyes Aqua + Tibetan Poppy Teal on the door.

I wrote my mantra with an Embossing Pen and applied Midnight Sapphire embossing powder.

I wanted to keep it simple so did not do more on it.
As for the cards, I glued the chipboard to my cover with transparent craft glue.
