Hey there !
I invite you to check Lindy Stamp Gang’s blog today as I am sharing the mixed media piece I created especially for the booth we will have at CHA next January.
I hope to see you there 🙂
Welcome to LSG & 7 Dots Studio Creative hop! We are so excited to have to amazing companies team up for a full day of creativity. This hop will surely get your creative juices flowing so head on over to all these incredibly talented crafters to check out how they’ve combined the beautiful lines by 7 Dots Studio with Lindy’s Stamp Gang products, it’s a match made in color heaven!
We have a little surprise for you:
We would love for you to show some love to all our crafters and leave them a little message. You will have the opportunity to win a fabulous prize by both 7 Dots Studio and Lindy’s Stamp Gang so please let us know that you have done so by coming back to 7 Dots Studio and Lindy’s Stamp Gang blog at the end of the hop.
I love 7 dots studio, brand that I discovered through the amazingly talented Anna Dabrowska (aka Finnabair). The lines are so gorgeous that, to be totally honest with you, it is a bit intimidating to work with for me as I tend to cover up most of my paper layers in my creative process.
I started by tearing the beautiful Messy Head paper to 9×12”, I love ragged edges. Then, I mixed some Gab Me With A Spoon Gray Magical Mica with soft glossy gel medium to create a wonderful shimmery paste, that I simply applied with one of my Catalyst wedge here and there (it was helping me to overcome the «blank page» syndrom). I also used it for the top left corner.
I love love love the new dusty rose color, Bodalicious Blush, and sprayed it through a stencil as well.
Gel media and our LSG products love each other, proof is I used heavy gel with our Midnight Rendezvous Raven glitters (still from Totally 80’s) to stencil through and create her leafy wings; and then again with another stencil that I sprayed, once dry, with Icy Primrose Gold (a discontinued color) *the ink goes in the cracks and creates natural contrast*.
I used Fiber paste mixed with Time Travel Teal Magical Mica to create a great texture for her hair. It stayed so vibrant even once dry.
The short sentences on this paper are great, you don’t necessarily see them at first but they are here.
I embossed the drops with Pumpkin Fiesta and Hydrangea Blue Mauve embossing powders, I did want the overlapping of the two colors so it was totally made on purpose.
Her antlers were cut out from the What Wood U Say paper, and then sprayed with Cowabunga Copper before being glued.
For her dress, I used the Sweet Dreams paper from the Dreamer collection. The fabric and colors were perfect for a dress. I did not want it to lay flat on top of the rest so I applied gel medium through a stencil, and to make it pop just a little more, sprayed with a golden Starburst Spray (as said earlier).
Her messages, Little Miracles, comes from the Messy Head Elements. I simply sprayed it with Cape Cod Coral and glued it where it seemed important.
I used Frolic In The Forest Green Magical Mica (from the Tickle Me Fancy set) for her eyes. And last but not least, I splattered the amazingly unique Sweet Violet Purple Teal as a final touch.
You now know my total love for Mindy Lacefield. I know for sure that she is one of these Souls I was meant to meet again in this lifetime, I simply adore her. In 2013, she offered a year long class called True Free Spirit, filled with monthly projects. Anastasia is the painting I created inspired by her December project 🙂
You may be aware that I am an art supply hoarder lover. I have plenty of stuff (currently in the process of sorting everything, box by box, and keeping only what I want to use). Mindy’s project reminded me that I actually have a jar of Golden crackle paste (it is very different from the Kroma crackle I usually use now), it looks like white frosting). I wanted to use it somehow. It eventually was used for her hair. Love it.
I was so eager to try the new products from the latest release from Lindy Stamp Gang. It’s a collection called Totally 80’s and designed by Cindy (aka Cynthialoowho). The colors are just amazing and I am happy she came up with them. I don’t like pink in general, except dusty rose because it is more subtle, there is a touch of mauve so it is not pinkinmyface 😉
I went with a winter theme in mind and love how it turned out, even with these two little characters that showed up. They were both pink so I decided to go for it, and add some glittered gel to make them pop a little. By applying it with my finger, I was able to create that texture I love so much.
to purchase Anastasia. If you’re interested in a print, please contact me.
I love the different textures happening, it is definately a painting that you can discover through your touch as much than with your eyes.
I hope you’ll enjoy the video:

This month, I came back to my happy place: my art journal. I am almost at the end of this one (the big Dylusions one) which makes me very happy (because I love finishing a journal and starting a new one !).
If you’ve been following me, you know that spray+stencil are what utterly lift my spirit.
I started my page with a sketch made in bed, I sometimes do that yes (sketching while watching tv). I was feeling very heavy emotionally and this Nixie emerged:
I made some splatters of Tibetan Poppy Teal (take the sprayer part off from the bottle, and shake over your surface. Be careful, it’s unpredictable).
Then, I mixed some beautiful Autumn Maple Crimson Magical Mica (part of the Autumn Leaves collection) with heavy gloss gel medium. It creates a wonderful sparkly paste. I applied it through the Pomegranate stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop. I decided to use that to give her a whimsical body:
I sped up the drying time a bit with my heat gun. I did not apply it very thickly so I would not have to wait too long.
The spraying fun started after: I used one of my favorite stencil (I think it was from Studio Calico) and sprayed Flying Monkey Midnight through it and aside (it is one of my favorite Flat Fabio color, one without the shimmer).
After that, I picked I’m Late I’m Late Slate (another Flat Fabio spray) to spray all over my spread, to bring everything together. It is a very subtle color so perfect for this purpose)
I used one of my favorite stencil, still from The Crafter’s Workshop, and sprayed the drops/tears with Tibetan Poppy Teal.
I am more of a Silver girl than a Gold one, I love our Cranberry Mist Burgundy color (part of the Holiday Wreath collection, now only available as shots… but you know what ? you can mix it up and put it in a spray bottle if you want)because of its beautiful strong silver sparkle, it goes so perfectly with the Flying Monkey Midnight and Tibetan Poppy Teal colors…
I worked on my Nixie’s face with Neocolor II (watersoluble crayons from Caran d’Ache) and white acrylic paint. I wanted her hair to pop, so I used Poinsettia Red Gold Starburst Shot (part of the Holiday Wreath collection as well, with touched of the Tibetan Poppy Teal shot to highlight it. Look at this gold shimmer !
I wrote her messages («Let this Sad Heavy Heart teach you» and a quote from Albert Camus saying «In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.»)
Done !
I hope you liked this step by step, and that it’s getting you inspired to participate in our Color Challenge 🙂

It’s Black Friday, one of the biggest day of sales in North America.

My SisterFromAnotherMother, Micki Wilde, currently has two wonderful online classes going on, Paint Happy and Wilde & Free. For being in both, let me tell you they litterally changed me as a creative being, and as a human. She is also frequently adding goodness in her shop (I just received the last 2 paintings I ordered from her, they are presents for my girls’ rooms).
She did it again this year. And 2014 is even better than the previous years ! Leonie Dawson just released (like… yesterday) her 2014 «Create your Amazing year» workbooks/planners/calendars. You can choose the Life oriented one, the Biz oriented one, or a pack that has both. More info on her website. And you know what is new ? This year, you can order a printed edition from Amazon, so no more printing at home if you don’t want to. Have you used it before ?
My dear Lynda just posted plenty of new cuties in her shop. When I see a fox I think of her immediatly. She is the queen of whimsical cute animals.
My love, Samie Kira, is awing me with her strength and commitment. Enter HAPPYHOLIDAY in her Etsy shop to get 25%off, and it’s also available on her website for anything digital she offers AND it’s working for her online classes as well (woot woot !!).
