I am a Virgo, and this is where my love for planning and being organized comes from (and from a very well organized Mom too). I feel everything and this is the only planner I have encountered that is not only focusing on what needs to be done on a day to day basis but also helps me go inward to reflect on how I want to feel that day/week/month/year. So I can take the steps towards the spiritual goals I set to myself. It was weird, the first year using Danielle’s planner, but now it feels natural to check in and plan.

Two days ago was my Aunt Michèle’s death anniversary. She left us in January 1995, I was 9 years old but remember it like it was yesterday. What I was doing when the telephone rang, the tone of my Mom’s voice talking to my grandma. The disbelief and crying. The hurt, not understanding why. Like it was yesterday, the pain and the gap in my heart are still here.

Her death is a huge part of what shaped the woman I am today, at 31 years old. I believe that the biggest challenges and heartbreaks are what makes us us. It sucks, oh my gosh yes it does suck to learn and grow from what puts us into billions of pieces. I write to her, I talk to her. Still.

When I was younger, my outlet was writing. Journals, personal blog (well, it was not called like that at the time, but I created an online private place just for my writing, with access given to selected friends only).

Art is a savior, it is a way to release the internal pressure before it bursts out, creating a mess of everything.

Art makes it easier to live with. It does not erase anything, it does not make me forget. Nor does it make it less hurtful. But it helps mend it.

No dwelling into “what if…” scenari is not easy. Not living in the past either.

One of my personal mission in this lifetime is to transform pain, to be an alchemist of it. No matter the medium (may it be art, may it be cooking, may it be whatever form it wants to take).

This is partly why I never given up making art, because I simply can’t.

We all have this power within us, it sounds cliché but I know it is a truth. We have to dig, yes, but it is right here.

(PS: I even have an ongoing painting I titled “anger management” for all these moments I could kill someone or call it quit 😉 One of the best idea I had last year…

Welcome on a new edition of my weekly ritual, Gratitude Friday (if you are not familiar with it, please go read how it came up and what it is about).

I am emotionally tired, I would lie to you if I was saying otherwise. Trying to figure things out, both around my career and in my personal life. I know I am not the only one feeling helpless, scared for the future of my children, and what else. And I don’t want to make less of it than it is because tomorrow IS scary.

But our reactions to it is what matters now. And as I was telling you last week, deep deep Gratitude is for me the best coping mechanism. What’s yours ?

This week, I am thankful for:

☆ The escape offered by books
☆ Long hot baths with incense, music, a candle and a book
☆ The effort my daughter puts into making her school year better
☆ My Mom
☆ Planning my Mom’s immigration to be in Canada with us
☆ Art making
☆ Going back to my Spiritual practice a little bit more each day
☆ Gifts shopping

What are you thankful for today ? <3

Welcome on a new edition of my weekly ritual, Gratitude Friday (if you are not familiar with it, please go read how it came up and what it is about).

You may disagree with me on this, but this is okay. Half of this week has been heartbreaking for me and for half of your nation if you live in the US. I don’t (I am both French and Canadian, born and raised in France but immigrated with my family to Canada in 2009. Country we work hard to get the citizenship, that was granted to us last year).

Today, I am still grieving. Today, I am still scared. And it will take time, maybe a lot of it, to feel comfortable again. In my opinion, both candidates had their flaws yes. However, I make it my life line to choose love, to choose compassion, to give when I can to those who need it. How can I accept racism (I come from a bi-racial couple, and created a mixed family when I met my SoulMate who happens not to share my skin color) ? How can I accept a President who made fun of women, who made fun of anyone with a difference ? I can’t. I keep telling myself “it might not be as bad as what he presented while campaigning” “we might be surprised”.

I lost sleep. I cried under the shower, hoping the hot water would wash away my fear of tomorrow, would take my fury and that I had read the results wrong. But it is all the new reality. He makes visible half of a country that was somehow in hiding.

So I do what I do best: I turn to creativity and to Gratitude. Taking time more and more everyday to remind myself of my own privileges, even as a person with a brown skin. We are not broken. But we can still do the inner and the outter work, finding ways together to make it work. Respecting each other, even the neighbor or the family member that does not share your core values. I know we can do it. It is so much more than just you in the US even though you are the first one impacted by what your country is shaping into… I love you.

Gratitude will not take your pain away. It will not put your head in the sand. Gratitude will grant you the power to acknowledge your power.

I strongly invite you to count your blessings, a little reality check of sorts.

This week, I am thankful for:

☆ The acceptance of my couple from our families and friends
☆ The two beautiful girls born from our love, how different they look from us, from each other.
☆ Living in a country that values us as Immigrants.
☆ Artists of all spheres coming together, speaking their Truths.
☆ The freedom to express myself.
☆ Time spent with my husband, just the two of us.
☆ My Mom, this pillar in our lives.
☆ The chance to have a Studio in our home, a refuge of sorts.
☆ The power of Love and Compassion.

And I leave you with this message that matters so much:

… and go get it ! I don’t know why but I’m not that much in the mood of long sentences of prose to share today, but still want to be here, hoping someone is still around for it, for me. I have so so many dreams, tiny ones and HUGE ones.

I am so happy to share with you my thoughts on Danielle Laporte’s 2017 Daily Planner. It is a big baby, definetely not one you can keep in your handbag for reference at all time (except if your handbag is a mini suitcase, then… yes).

I talked about the planner in a previous blogpost, but did not have it in my hands yet. This is why it was important to me to add to it with a video.

First… packaging ! It arrived in a box that had this sticker on it saying “If you want to find out, you have to go in” and I was thinking that it made sense with opening a box BUT could be applied in life too, don’t you think ?

There was some clear tape with Danielle’s logo to seal it shut. As a selling artist, packaging is very important. The care and thought put into it does matter. And I was blown away.

Inside… the planner was wrapped in a gorgeous tissue paper printed with the same logo as the tape (let me tell you: I kept it for collage material, to use in my art journal or in some paintings).

This is the perfect tool if you want to align your feelings, your spirituality, your business and your life.

And just for fun, here are some things that my Heart currently desires:

• Clarity
• Patience
• An operative new home Studio (baptised The Art Cave)
• Attracting the people who need my paintings
• New jewelry (bracelets)
• Connection(s)
• Local friends to hang out with
• Date nights with my husband (like me+him time if you know what I mean)
• Blonde curly hair
