For my last project as a video creator for ColourArte, I decided to showcase my love for stencils and used them with almost every products the brand has.
I work in layers, always. Some you will never know existed when you look at the finished painting. But for this specific one, I wanted them all to be visible and using ColourArte’s product with stencils gave me that freedom of movement and choices.
I love using gesso as my first layer, it add grit to the surface so I am sure the product will adhere to it. As you can see, I like to leave some blank space so the wood still show through, it adds a really nice interest with the sprays reacting differently on gesso than on naked wood.
I love this big stencil from Donna Downey (scroll down for the list of supplies I used in this project) and it was perfect for my 8×10″ wood panel.
