This week, nothing much happened. Which left me with a new kind of challenge: coming in peace with myself about it, and accepting that even if what happened in our life this week is concentrated in two days out of seven, there is nothing wrong with it at all !
This week, I did not really know, regarding the photos I had, how many pages I would need to create. To be honest with you, this is not something I tend to worry about. I really want to keep this process as smooth and fun for me as possible (otherwise I will likely give it up).
I mostly had photos in a landscape orientation. As I said last week, I want to think of the journaling so in a few years from now, we will still know what the event was, or the occasion.
I don’t have plenty of journaling, but they are here and I had enough room to share what I wanted us to remember.
Last week’s spread ending with a page on the left, so I needed to feel it with a spread on the right as well, and I chose to go with the Photo Pocket Design C, that is 6 slots for horizontal 4×6 photos.
This works well because I managed to still have a space for my journaling, recto and verso (I used a card from the Olive core kit edition).
I decided to screw perfectionism… It is in chronological order at all for this week #8. It was hard for me to accept, but this is when having the date on the photo or the journaling makes all its sense.
This allows me to share with you one (if not the bigger) struggle I face in my Project Life process: what to do when not all your photos fit the verso of what you already have ?? (I would love your input, how do you manage that). My solution was not to care as much as usual about the chronology timeline of our week, so we have our saturday first, then sunday on its back, then saturday again on the right page facing it. I cringe just thinking about it but will be okay with it, with time 😉
I am digging adding some title to a photo, or a journaling card, with some alphabet stickers. My messy non linear brain is very happy to mix and match the alphabets so it does not get boring for me. This big chunky glittery alphabet is nice for title making.
As you can see, I don’t always have photos for the back of my pockets.
I love love love quotes, or passages from songs for example. So I look online for something that could pair well what the feeling of the week was, and play in Photoshop to create a card from it. I also printed some of the quotes Elise had for free download earlier this year (or late december last year, I can’t quite remember).
I printed the «I choose» poem I wrote and inserted it. It was an important thing for me to keep in our album.
I still have one spot to fill, but I will find what to have there.
And as I try to do every week, you can see some of my Instagram photos printed there.
What worked for me this week:
- Not caring that much about the result being 100% perfect (stamp dates did not worked always correctly so I stamped several times).
- Using handmade quotes cards, and filler cards for when I don’t have journaling or photo to insert.
- Ending the week with the Instagram pocket, that will be the beginning of the following week.
- As in week 7, we did take some kind of a serie of photos. I LOVE it. The photos were taken with my iPad, in the morning, our blinds closed… so with lots of noise. But that’s ok !
What I notice thanks to documenting our daily life:
- Food is quite at the center sometimes. I see how it helps us bond.
- We are having a social life that is fuller.
- I am not afraid to keep track of what I write here on the blog.
Here is what I used this week:
Pssst, if you are outside of the US as I am, I wanted to let you know that from this Friday (March 1st), you’ll be able to pre-order any of the new Project Life items via Scrapbooking Inner Circle (to learn more about it, please click on the image on your left).
This is where I order from, and by pre-ordering you will sure to get what you want before all the customers who did not pre-order when the products will finally be available in May. I did that for the previous release (Seafoam and Olive edition), the shipping is fast once it is in the warehouse.
(can you tell I can’t wait for the Midnight edition ? so many new ones are being released soon. You can look through Becky Higgins online CHA-Winter catalogue to see everything).
