Hey guys !
I know it’s been quite a while since you really heard from me or have seen any new art. As you may be aware of, we moved across the country during last summer (from British-Columbia to Québec) so every art supply, every painting have been packed and moving into my new Studio (casually baptised The Art Cave) has been rougher on me than I thought it would be. It is almost as I wish it to be now, but not totally there yet.
Coming back to my Nixies seems difficult, I am dragging my feet when it comes to show up in the Studio and paint them. I just can’t, not knowing exactly why. I still love them, their stories, what they teach me when they come to life. But right now and for the past few months, I feel like bringing new ones to life is a pain more than a pleasure. And if they taught me something over the years, it’s that forcing anything creative is not the proper solution.
So after a lot of thinking and talking with my Kindreds (including my husband, who has to live with me, my insecurities and my crankiness), I decided not to pressure myself into painting faces but to take this opportunity to open my creative wings wider and wider, to go into territories still uncharted on my map. There are lots of techniques my heart wants to explore. There are lots of “stuff” I want to try to make, other than just paintings.
I will go deeper into expressing myself and my stories through abstract art, I will make more videos too, explore sculpture, and I am currently feeling like the sky is the limit as long as show up in my Studio and do the work.
I wanted to let you know that my class Texture Tales will be launching in a few weeks, so be on the lookout for more info. I also invite you to subscribe to my Youtube channel so you won’t miss any new video, and to follow me on Instagram for daily updates.
GLITTER!!!
This is when I went crazy with them and my table was, of course, totally covered 😀
