Today I am sharing a short video in which I share my first view of the new Silk set from ColourArte, called Meridian Moon.
I show you an easy way to do a swatch-ish thing to put on your product’s lid so you know exactly the color.

If you’re not familiar with the product, Silk are acrylic paints that are duo-toned: a base and a shimmer. There are highly pigmented but because they are a glaze, they have the particularity to be semi-translucent. Perfect for layering, for example !

And these colors are also available in the other lines of products, Primary Elements (the pigment powder) and Twinkling H2O (the watercolor in cake form):

You Beautifulz, I had SO.MUCH.FUN creating this week’s project for ColourArte… I picked two small squashes (less that $1 each…) and decided to give them another life for our home décor honouring Fall. (Please, scroll down to see the complete list of the supplies I used for this project).

The first layer, created with Extra Heavy Gesso, was the perfect textured base for the ColourArte products to shine on.

I also use a small fairy chipboard, from Gina Designs. I kept her very simple and show you how easy it is to use the Twinkling H20 watercolors to bring her to life.

My daughter told me that the green one makes her think of the pickle in Plants vs Zombies (you know… EA video game). Made me laugh pretty loudly.

I adore the Primary Elements pigments. Because you know me, I love when I can use the same product in so many different ways. In the video, you will see me use the Primary Elements two ways: one mixed with Glass Bead Gel, and the other one mixed with the clear crackle gel from Ranger. OH.MY.GOAWD ! Both results were just breathtaking. This is when the fact the pigments contain mica and are double-tone makes perfect sense and gives a result that will take your breath away.

Hello Beautifuls !

This week, for my video project for ColourArte, I wanted to play around the symbolism of the peacock feather. I used a chipboard piece from Gina Designs as my main element and played with texture and colour on a canvas board to pair it with.

You will be amazed how quick and easy it can be to create some texture on your surface with the right tools. Nothing fancy: extra heavy gesso applied with a good fluffy brush, then a grungy stencil and molding paste (you could even use gesso again !). The Radiant Rain sprays showcase it so beautifully and are SO vibrant, with the perfect amount of shimmer added to it.

For the peacock feather itself, I wanted to see how black gesso would make the pigments and mica of the Primary Elements pop even more. No disappointment there: the result is just breathtaking (to me anyway). And it was such an easy process, too: I used the Embossing dabber, from Rangers, as a sort of glue for the pigment to stick to. Ah.mah.ziiing !

As you probably now, October is the month for breast cancer awareness. And as many people now, this is a shitty illness that touched women very close to my heart.

I wanted to honour them and their strength. The battle. The fear. The winning. I hope you will resonate with that painting, that is not exactly what I usually create but it needed to come to life and to be shared. I may sell some prints of it, if people are interested of having her in their home (if so, please tell me).

I used both Twinkling H2O watercolor and Silk Glazes for this project. Once you start creating with them, you will find out there is nothing like these products on the market. They are unique and gorgeous.

Today is a new video project for ColourArte 🙂 (please scroll all the way down for the complete list of the supplies I used for this painting).

You know that my first joy is painting. For this project, I wanted to show you how you can create a beautiful and colourful painting, in minimal steps but with such a wonderful finished piece.

It is okay to cheat now and then, and stencils are great when you want to skip the handrawing of an image. I used Donna Downey’s lotus stencil because this flower is really meaningful to me (so much that I actually have one incorporated in my Gratitude chest tattoo ;)) and I simply love the stencil for its effective simplicity.
