3 months. It’s the time Mom stayed with us here in Canada. She is going back to her home in France today.
As I told you in yesterday‘s blogpost, I always turn into Gratitude when my heart is heavy. when sadness takes over.
Some people think three months, 24/7 with your Mom (or… Mother-in-law in Chéridoo’s case) is a nightmare.
Well, we love my Mom so much that for us it is always a Love fest. So yes, sometimes we higher our voice at each other. But this year is the first year for her in our new Home. She has her own room. Her own bathroom. And we are not all over each other. Trust me: it makes all the difference.
We do have our ups and downs, but the ups always eventually take over and washes over the rest. Our love is strong.
Saying goodbye is always the hardest, and will always be.
We invited some of our friends over yesterday night, very last minute notice («guys, would you come over in 30 mn for some cocktails before Mom leaves tomorrow ?»). Almost all of them were able to come and say goodbye, until next time.
We never know exactly when we will see each other again, I guess this adds to the difficulty of seeing her go.
(she will hate me a few seconds for sharing this self-portrait of us I took on the beach at White Rock ! mwahaha)
Thank you Mom
for the love
for the honesty
for the sense of humour
for the help
for the come back in time
for the external point of view
for the cooking
for the laundry folding
for the hugs
for being such an amazing grandma
for being the mother-in-law every man dreams of having
for the long talks. and walks
for teaching me to be a better person
thank you for everything
So sweet and heartfelt. Good-byes are so hard….love this post and the cute pic. 🙂
Your post about your mom was so touching. It reminded me of when my mom came to visit us for a week a few months ago. When we dropped her off at the airport I cried like a baby. So I totally understand how you feel.
