This week, I decided to come back in my journal and put stamps as the heroes of my spread.

I love using Mindy’s girl stamp when I feel lazy and really appreciate the fact that is usually is a starting point for me to then «Nixie-fy» as I feel.

This Nixie seemed a little sad, I felt like she needed a companion she could lean on, to help her bear her heavy heart. I can’t tell you what kind of animal this Sprixie is, I let you decided.

Look at the amazing shimmer that the Magical Micas are bringing to her hair and face. I simple love it !

I love using embossing powders, fell in love with them all over again. And I just wish this constellation stamp was slightly bigger, but I enjoy it anyway !

This month, I came back to my happy place: my art journal. I am almost at the end of this one (the big Dylusions one) which makes me very happy (because I love finishing a journal and starting a new one !).

If you’ve been following me, you know that spray+stencil are what utterly lift my spirit.

I started my page with a sketch made in bed, I sometimes do that yes (sketching while watching tv). I was feeling very heavy emotionally and this Nixie emerged:

I made some splatters of Tibetan Poppy Teal (take the sprayer part off from the bottle, and shake over your surface. Be careful, it’s unpredictable).

Then, I mixed some beautiful Autumn Maple Crimson Magical Mica (part of the Autumn Leaves collection) with heavy gloss gel medium. It creates a wonderful sparkly paste. I applied it through the Pomegranate stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop. I decided to use that to give her a whimsical body:

I sped up the drying time a bit with my heat gun. I did not apply it very thickly so I would not have to wait too long.

The spraying fun started after: I used one of my favorite stencil (I think it was from Studio Calico) and sprayed Flying Monkey Midnight through it and aside (it is one of my favorite Flat Fabio color, one without the shimmer).
After that, I picked I’m Late I’m Late Slate (another Flat Fabio spray) to spray all over my spread, to bring everything together. It is a very subtle color so perfect for this purpose)
I used one of my favorite stencil, still from The Crafter’s Workshop, and sprayed the drops/tears with Tibetan Poppy Teal.

I am more of a Silver girl than a Gold one, I love our Cranberry Mist Burgundy color (part of the Holiday Wreath collection, now only available as shots… but you know what ? you can mix it up and put it in a spray bottle if you want)because of its beautiful strong silver sparkle, it goes so perfectly with the Flying Monkey Midnight and Tibetan Poppy Teal colors…

I worked on my Nixie’s face with Neocolor II (watersoluble crayons from Caran d’Ache) and white acrylic paint. I wanted her hair to pop, so I used Poinsettia Red Gold Starburst Shot (part of the Holiday Wreath collection as well, with touched of the Tibetan Poppy Teal shot to highlight it. Look at this gold shimmer !

I wrote her messages («Let this Sad Heavy Heart teach you» and a quote from Albert Camus saying «In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.»)

Done !

Some days, I just want to play in my journal in the most simple way. And what’s better than just taking some spray inks, write something, and call it done ?

This is one of the reasons why I love using sprays. They are not just to use with stencils, no no no. And the reason why I adore the ones from Lindy Stamp Gang is that 1) I have the choice: shimmer or not shimmer 2) the colors are unique, you won’t see anything like them anywhere else.

I used the same method than for the Worthy spread: I started by using stencils and bubble wrap with super heavy gesso to create texture and a contrast with the paper of the journal itself.

Then, I grabbed the Industrial Chic Starburst set, a stencil designed by Christy Tomlinson (isn’t that doily gorgeous ? love it) and had fun and sprayed sprayed sprayed my heart out.

I started in the middle, with Rusty Lantern Lime and worked my way to the edges with Time Travel Teal, then I darkened the very edges with Shabby Turbine Teal (these teals make my heart sing a happy song !).

See how the paper soaks the pigments more than the gesso ? It almost looks like I gessoed after applying the color, but nope.

I stamped a bit with one of my tribal symbol stamp, wrote my truth, and called it done !

It really does not have to be complicated…

ooooh I really need to thank my Sister-From-Another-Mother (aka miss Micki Wilde) for the renewed love for characters and hidden stories they still have to tell.

For this week video and art journaling play, I wanted to see how would my sprays would react on different surfaces; and because I love texture so much, I chose to apply super heavy gesso (both through stencils, and by itself. I used my Catalyst blade but you could totally use a palette knife).

See how we can still notice the gesso despite the heavy spraying ? Oh yay… the ink stays lighter on top of it than it’s true color when on the paper. It offers such a great contrast, I am thinking of doing that more often. Wondering what would happen on canvas and on wood too (some people automatically gesso everything they work on, I used to; but now I skip this step) !
There are several thicknesses of gesso, and each brand is kind of different (for example, the regular gesso from Liquitex is more fluid than the Golden one). Heavy or Exra/Super gesso is good for texture, because it holds in stencils, it has plenty of possibilities.

I think I might have fallen into the glitters jar. Oops !
I told you before how fine the glitters, that now coordinates with the newest color sets, are. And how that makes my heart happy.
I don’t like using glue, so finding ways to avoid it is always a good point.

I kept her face simple. Because I did not want to pressure myself, and I wanted to keep it fun for me, putting my feet back in the water not to abruptly.
Oh sure, I kind of cringe when I see that fake mouth and think «oh, if she has a mouth, at least it could be a better one», but eh, I’m okay with how it looks because it’s not what matters the most when I look at her. To me anyway.

I love how the products from Lindy Stamp Gang helps my creativity to soar. And allow me to get back to it when I am in a rut, when I don’t know anything about it anymore (well… at least when I think it’s the case). I start with the sprays and go from there to see where it leads me.

There are 8 new colors in total: 4 Starburst Sprays (2-tone spray, with shimmers), 4 Flat Fabio (no shimmer), but also coordinating Embossing Powders and Glitters.

I wanted to do a spread in my Art Journal for that blog hop going on ( We also are celebrating the new ladies who entered our family. You will be so amazed at all the diversity that now composes our Design Team. Such a great amount of talent and no one does the same than the other). New blood was found during our DT call, and I am so happy with the choices that were made. We are all passionate about Lindy Stamp Gang’s products.

Here is my spread:

It is PINK ! I know… what’s going on with me ? Well… you’ll understand when you’ll play with the Cheshire Cat Cherry Starburst Spray. It is a vibrant hot pink with such a beautiful shimmer (click the image on the left to enlarge).

I started with this big stencil cleaning leftover, it was a LSG spray too but honestly I can’t remember which one exactly. I wanted it to be the focus point of the page and started from there.

I sprayed I’m Late, I’m Late Slate over the entire spread, so it would not be white anymore. It is a subtle color, so it left me plenty of room for the next stages. Once heat dried (not patient enough to wait for it to hair dry), I sprayed Cheshire Cat Cherry in a way that makes me think it is coming from that doily shape, like a falling star. I then sprayed Curiouser Chartreuse to add a bit of pop around.

The center part of the doily was feeling too empty, so I grabbed this amazing stamp set from Mama Elephant and played with several of them.

I inked the round «Love» stamp with embossing ink and then applied Midnight Sapphire embossing powder. I love how imperfect this looks, and bumpy. Dark blue and hot pink = gleeeeeee !

I first stamped long arrows with the Weeping Willow Green embossing powder. I liked the very subtle effect and that I needed to look for it to see them… but I eventually stamped shorter arrows and embossed them with Midnight Sapphire, so it will bring back the center of the doily.

I took the sprayer from the bottle of Down The Rabbit Hole Starburst, and dropped it here and there.

I wanted to try to create my own glittery medium and am so happy with how it turned out. I am not a glitter kind of girls, I love shimmers but glitters… well, not so much. However, these babied in the Mad Hatter set are scrumptious. I used Silver Moon, it is a very fine powder that once blended with gloss Gel Medium created that beautiful glittery paint I applied with my Catalyst blade over the pink trail to have a fairy dust effect (who does not need some fairy dust, right ?).

I finished my page with some quick writing (no thinking, just writing) with a Faber Castell india ink pen.
